A bit of a cheat here but I've always loved this by Walt Whitman:
“This is what you shall do: love the earth and sun, and animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence towards the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown, or to any man or number of men; go freely with the powerful uneducated persons, and with the young, and mothers, of families: read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life: re-examine all you have been told at school or church, or in any books, and dismiss whatever insults your"
Thanks David. Quote brings to my mind something that's easily regurgitated thus my "cheated." I'm with you though I don't have the mental power left to commit that to memory. I was never stacked to begin with.
While I may not be able to memorize it you would think that I would be able to copy and paste it correctly. Looks like I screwed that up but 9rules won't give me permission to edit it at this point which is to bad cause my favorite part is the ... "and your flesh shall be a great poem" ... section. Oh well.

Adrian got there first with my favourite by Dr Suess. So I guess I'll go with my other often-said line:

Or the humorous:
"If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through."

Hey Griffin, I don't think that's a cheat at all--though I doubt I have the mindpower anymore to commit that to memory :)

To paraphrase badly, "if you put a gun on the mantle in act one, it must be fired by act three."
It's a reminder to set up the future conflict in writing early in the story.
