I had a brilliant idea today for a new website (I'm not going to share it here, yet) and I've decided to sleep on it. Why? Because I'm worried that this site might be the one that breaks the camel's back, even though it would be the lowest maintenance of all of the sites that I run*.
Right now I've got 3. That's not too many, right?
But is one more going to be one too many? How many can you run at one time? Where do you draw the line? Do you have multiple blogs?
If you do have multiple blogs, please make your own ordered list so that I can see the multiple parts of your personality.
*Also, I need to make sure that I figure out the optimal domain name, because I hate having an idea, buying a name, then coming up with a new, better name 2 months later. Ugh.

You've only got too many if you find you can't keep them all going. I struggle to maintain one. Some people have a half dozen. It all depends on your interests, time and motivation. :)
If you have three and love all three then rock those three! :D

I'll echo Peroty on this one. It all depends on whether you feel you can handle it. I might recommend you do a test run. Start up a Wordpress.com blog which you set to private. Run it for a while as if it was public. If you can keep it going for a while and you decide it works then start up the real thing and just transfer over the posts (look, you already have a ton of content! You're ahead of the game!).
As for myself, I run two, and find that it's more than enough for me.

Some people have more than a dozen! Serious! And I've met a blogger who maintains about 15 sites and blogs..

Yeah, but are they all good? Also, can you tell me who it is so that I can see how they're doing?
Now that I've had a few hours to think about it, I'm definitely going to go forward with starting the site (though I'm not buying the domain name until tomorrow). I even chose a starting-out theme.
I figure that I managed to keep up HeatEatReview while working full time and completing a Masters degree in one year. I can add one more fun website to the mix. And if it even becomes unfun, then I can always quit.

In my opinion, the answer depends on the individual. Some of us can handle only one website, some can handle three or four, or even more. It depends on our passion and determination to keep them all going on a continual basis.

I fluctuate between three and five blogs that I update:
1. BlackGayBlogger.com
2. Nascent, my Vox Blog
3. The Black Weblog Awards blog (not up right now, but will be in a few days - I just did a redesign)
4. Blogging While Brown Conference (a blog I contribute to for a minority tech conference me and a few people are planning)
5. BlackComix (my fantasy/sci-fi/comic book blog, which I haven't started yet, but will this weekend)
