I guess it's like baton twirling, for the fingers. And no, I cannot do it.

Though I'm not too sure about the last possibility, I do think pen spinning is very cool. I remember sitting in class in seventh grade and trying to do it. I never got very far.

Yeah I can do it. A lot of us learn to do the basic back and forth between your thumb and index finger in primary school. Going that far is just something you pick up in high school. A lot of people in Malaysia can do it. It's just something to pass the time in class.

Just needs a decent length pen and make sure it doesn't have rubberised grip all throughout.

I remember in high school all the good debaters could do the pen thing. They'd just glare at you and spin the pen, not even paying any attention to their hands or the pen. Just spinning. It looked pretty cool (for as much as debate can look cool).

My ex-roommate learned it while she was at law school and she's not even super-coordinated. Takes practice. Like everything else. I'm going to go practice levitating the kitchen table now...

I figured out how to do that after watching friends in high school and just teaching myself. It is totally fun and addictive...I highly recommend learning it. Also, it helps break the boredom in meetings...

Are you sure that isn't some kind of illusion??! I can do some basic pen spinning but not quite like that in the video, LOL.

I was doing a bit of pen spinning in Lit class today, while my tutor rambled on about Tennesee Williams, and Lovely Girl (Twitterites know her well by now) noticed and said it looked really cool.

It didn't though. It was really stilted, and I kept dropping the pen. Imagine how impressed she's going to be once I master it. I'm telling you, sex is on the cards.

I can't spin, but I can twirl/throw them up into the air a good three feet or so and catch with the same hand without thinking about it. I think that's about all I did my senior year of highschool and most of college.

Same here. I would've thought all this keyboard use would've resulted in freakish finger dexterity — but no. And it's not only my fingers that ache, it's the entire damn hand.
